Anthrax. Smallpox. Plague. Diseases that can kill. Diseases that are now in the hands of terrorists. What if these diseases were released in your hometown, or the place where you work? What could you do if vaccines and treatments were in short supply or unavailable? Is there anything you can do now to prepare yourself and improve your chances of survival?
Found in the soil, Anthrax spores have been been discovered to be able to survive for decades. It is most common for an animal to contract the disease while grazing in a field. Although you can become sick from eating the meat of an infected animal, it is most common that infected individuals have come in direct contact with an infected animal. This characteristic of Anthrax makes it almost completely restricted to certain occupations that handle animals first hand, such as veterinarians, and farmers.
The first way to get anthrax is by contact with an animal by skin. The skin looses moisture and flexibility and a bump that looks like an insect bite appears. Then it develops into the ulcer that may look like a light skin disease, but when the black inside of the bump show up, this is a call that a person may be infected by anthrax.
Penicillin and amoxicillin have excellent safety records for use in pregnancy, and are effective against anthrax. Women allergic to penicillin can take desensitization protocol therapy or other effective antibiotics such as erythromycin. But in some situations, amoxicillin may not be effective against anthrax; the bacteria that cause anthrax can sometimes be resistant to penicillin.
Treating anthrax with the prescribed treatment and medication could do one a lot good. On normal circumstances proper treatment could eliminate this disease, only when the disease is contracted or spread through eating contaminated mean or through skin. Inhaling anthrax could cause some problem when it comes to treatment and can even be fatal.
Tetracycline and doxycycline are also generally effective in treating anthrax infection but are not used in case of pregnant women. These antibiotics can permanently stain a baby's teeth; and inhibit the bone growth in the fetus. Therefore, pregnant women should not take doxycycline unless there is a specific reason why they cannot be treated with either ciprofloxacin or amoxicillin.
Essential oils are antibacterial, and some sources suggest rubbing them inside the nose or spraying the air with these extremely concentrated oils to counter anthrax infections. I don't. Essential oils are likely to cause a variety of side effects (such as damage to the mucus surfaces of the nose and lungs, and stress to the lymphatic system) that could, paradoxically, make infection more likely and more virulent.
Poke root is powerful medicine - in fact a potential poison - and the dose is very small. One drop of poke tincture may be taken daily for no more than three months as a counter to possible infection. Those with a positive diagnosis could use a single drop as frequently as six times a day. Alkaloids in poke root tincture can accumulate in the kidneys, making extended use risky, though some people have taken doses of 15 drops a day for a year or more without apparent harm.
